Wrapped Up Album Story

I was listening to the Dean of a Christian College speak once. She said that the absolute hardest lesson to teach the students was not the theology, it was not the text of the Bible and it was not the stories. The hardest lesson to teach was “Jesus loves me.”

In all the time I have walked with Him the word “unconditional” never soaked in. I was raised in a crime and punishment environment. It wasn’t about doing the right thing. It was about not getting caught or you would get punished. So I carried that into my relationship with God. And when I sinned, I would close the door to my heart and hide so I didn’t get caught. It’s like when you are a kid and you are playing hide and seek, when you cover your eyes you think no one can see you. That’s what I did for many years with Jesus. But like the loving and patient Father He is, he let me continue to sin, continue to repent, continue to feel His forgiveness and unconditional love when I came back home until I realized my sin was hurting me on my own.

This album was written when I finally agreed with Romans 8:38-39 not because I read it but because He proved it to me.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is the God we serve. One who desires a relationship based on trust and love.

All Glory to the Father forever and ever. Amen.
